Our Apex Cetacea Program
OUR MISSION
Scientific research is at the heart of our activities. The data collected during sea trips are analyzed to better understand the behaviors, migrations, and threats faced by cetaceans. These data, accumulated over four years, form a solid internal database for our organization and research, but they can also be shared internationally to understand cetacean behaviors and migrations. This research is essential for developing effective conservation strategies and raising public awareness of environmental issues. We aim to publish the first research specific to the cetaceans of the Capbreton Canyon, thus strengthening our contribution to marine science.

Our partnership
The Master of Science (MSc) MARRES offered by the University of Nice Côte d'Azur is based in Sophia-Antipolis in the Alpes-Maritimes. This master's program brings together students from various backgrounds and nationalities, yet they all share a common goal: a commitment to conserving and enhancing marine resources. Led by Mr. Christophe Mocquet and Mrs. Paola Furla, and supported by a teaching team of researchers from various fields, the students are trained for 2 years in marine biology and conservation sciences, as well as in the enhancement of marine resources. The goal of the MSc MARRES is to train future researchers and managers who will bridge the gap between the research world and entrepreneurship. The program is structured to allow students to undertake internships and participate in marine conservation and resource enhancement projects. Thanks to the collaboration between the University of Nice Côte d'Azur and Apex Research, students are able to learn in the field and engage with the professional world, applying their theoretical knowledge alongside the research team. This valuable exchange of skills contributes to the association’s study projects and thus aids in the protection of cetaceans.
